Recycling Industry Boom

It is estimated that last year in Guatemala, the collection of crushed glass totaled 59 thousand metric tons, reporting a 10% increase over 2017.

Representatives of Grupo Vidriero Centroamericano (Vical) reported that according to company estimates, last year was collected in the country on average about 4,900 tons of crushed glass per month.

CentralAmericaData reports detail that in the first semester of 2018 the main importer of glass and its manufactures in Central America was Guatemala, with $39 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $31 million, Panama, with $28 million, El Salvador, with $24 million, Honduras, with $22 million and Nicaragua, with $12 million.
