Costa Rican companies, main buyers
From January to September last year, the main importing country in Central America was Costa Rica with $34 million, followed by Honduras with $26 million, Panama with $14 million, El Salvador with $10 million, Nicaragua with $8 million and Guatemala with $7 million.

Origin of Imports
In the first nine months of 2018, 24% of the value imported from Central America was from Hong Kong, 24% from the US, 17% from China, 12% from Israel and 4% from Mexico.

For the period concerned over the past seven years, Hong Kong has been the fastest-growing market of origin for imports, representing 8% of total purchases in 2012 and rising to 24% in 2018.

Regional business upwards
Between January and September 2017 and the same period in 2018, the imported value of communication radios in the region increased 12%, growing from $89 million to $100 million.
