Public Infrastructure Projects in Central America

A water treatment system estimated at $95 million, a municipal park and office buildings are some of the public works projects planned for the coming months in the region.

The information system "Construction Projects in Central America", provided by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, provides an up to date list of the public and private construction projects for which environmental impact assessment (EIA) studies were submitted to the respective institutions of each country in December 2016.

Details of some of the projects: 

In Panama Instituto de Acueductos y Alcantarillados Nacionales presented an EIA to build, in the districts of Santiago and La Atalaya, Veraguas, a system for collection and treatment of wastewater from the city of Santiago. According to the study, the overall investment amounts to $95,555,278.25.

The Municipality of Panama presented an EIA to build, on the Trans - Isthmus Corridor, in the Panama Canal Basin, northern sector (PMN) Panama City, a Municipal Park covering a polygon of approximately 19 ha + 8,706 m 2. According to the document, the project is called "Parque Municipal del Norte Fase 1" and the overall investment amount is $16,940,542.50.  

In Costa Rica the Administrative Board of the National Registry presented an EIA to build, in the district of Catedral, province of San José, a data center building. According to the document the project is called "Construcción de Edificio de Centro de Datos" and the estimated investment is $14,980,263.  

The National Museum of Costa Rica presented an EIA to build, in Pavas, San José province, a group of works consisting of structural, mechanical and electrical infrastructure and a new building for the National Museum. The project is called "Edificio del Museo Nacional" and the estimated investment is $6,245,069.
