Progress in the Escuintla- Puerto Quetzal Tender

The tender act for the construction and operation of the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal highway, in Guatemala, could take between October and December, and there are already five prequalified builders.

The National Agency for Alliances for Development (Anadie) has announced that they are in the process of revising the draft of the project, and that the tender could be launched at the end of the year, between October and December.

Diario de Centroamerica explains that "... the work requires an investment of $65 million, and will be financed through toll collection."

The companies shortlisted in the tender for the rehabilitation, management, operation, maintenance and additional works on the Escuintla-Puerto Quetza highway are:

Consorcio Autopistas de Guatemala (Guatemala-Mexico)
Mota-Engil Latin América B.V (Netherlands)
JJC Contratistas Generales S.A (Peru)
ANAS International Enterprise S. P. A (Italy)
COCONAL S.A.P.I de C.V and Operadora Autopistas S.A de C.V (Mexico).

"... In addition to the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal Highway, the ANADIE is promoting another 6 projects under the model of public-private partnerships, which will require an investment of $1.5 billion. "It is important to recognize that the infrastructure investment model requires the inclusion of different actors in society," said Juan Carlos Zapata, executive director of the Foundation for Development in Guatemala (Fundesa )."

Highway Concession Confirmed

August 2018

In Guatemala, confirmation has been given of the award of a contract to renovate and manage the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal highway with tolls, to the Consortium Autopistas de Guatemala.

In a meeting held on August 6, the National Council of Partnerships for the Development of Economic Infrastructure (Conadie), unanimously decided to approve the actions of the Evaluation Commission that decided to award the Consortium Autopistas de Guatemala the contract for the renovation and administration of the road section.

Road Tender in Guatemala Postponed Once Again

For the second time the deadline for receipt of offers has been postponed in the tender for the renovation and administration of the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal highway, this time until May 3.

The National Council of Partnerships for the Development of Economic Infrastructure reported that on March 13 it decided to postpone the date for receiving technical and economic offers from the pre-qualified companies for the project "Renovation, Administration, Operation, Maintenance and Complementary Works on the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal Highway with Toll Collection", which is in the international public tender phase.
