Colombian Coffee Production Continues to Rise

Between January and August coffee production amounted to nine million bags, 13% more than the nearly eight million harvested during the same period in 2014.

Bogota, September 7, 2015 (Press FNC) Colombia, the world's largest producer of mild washed Arabica coffee, recorded in August a coffee harvest of 1.3 million bags of 60 kilos of coffee, ten percent more than the production achieved in the same month last year.

Meanwhile, so far this year (January-August) coffee production was about nine million bags, up 13% from nearly eight million harvested during the first eight months of 2014.

Consistent with estimates made by coffee association, over the last twelve months (September 2014 to August 2015) Colombia coffee production was 13.2 million bags, nine percent more compared to the 12.1 million harvested in the same period one year-ago.

Colombia Produces Less Coffee

May 2017

Production in April amounted to 834 thousand bags of 60 kilos, 20% less than production in the same month in the previous harvest, when 1.04 million bags were recorded.

Larepublica.co reports that "...The reason for the fall in production last month, according to the National Coffee Growers Federation (FNC), could be a delay in the blooms responsible for the harvest in the first half of the year. On the other hand, production for the current year was 4.4 million bags an increase of 4.8% compared to production in the same period in 2016."

Colombian Coffee Production Up 8%

August 2016

Between August 2015 and July 2016, the harvest exceeded 14.1 million bags of 60 kilos, up 8% compared with the almost 13.1 million bags harvested in the same period last year.

Between August 2014 and July of this year production amounted to 12 million bags of 60 kilos, 12% more than in the period before harvest.

Up to July 2015 productivity reached 16 sacks per hectare, the second highest in the last fifteen years.

Colombian Coffee Production Up 18%

September 2014

Between January and August 2014, the South American country produced 7,926,000 bags of coffee, 18% more than the amount produced in the same period in 2013.
