Imports by country 
In the first 3 quarters of 2016 the main importer of processed meats in Central America was El Salvador with $19 million, followed by Guatemala with $15 million, Nicaragua and Honduras with $12 million, Panama with $10 million and Costa Rica with $6 million.

Price of monthly imports 
During the 33 months between January 2014 and September 2016 prices of monthly regional imports ranged from a maximum value of $3.12 per kilogram registered in October 2014 and a minimum value of $2.37 per kilogram in purchases made in January 2016.

Changes in imports 
The volume of regional imports for the first nine months of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014 increased by 8.37% and 2016 compared to 2015 and also grew by 11.3%.

Foreign Trade of Processed Meat in Central America

November 2016

In 2015 the region as a whole imported $96 million worth of processed meat, led by El Salvador, which imported $25 million, followed by Guatemala with $22 million, and Honduras, with $16 million.
