Imports by country 
In the first quarter of 2018, the main importer of printing machines and equipment in Central America was Guatemala with $26 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $20 million, Panama with $17 million, El Salvador with $16 million, Honduras with $10 million and Nicaragua with $6 million. 

Origin of imports 
During the first three months of the year, 48% of the value imported from Central America came from the USA, 14% from China, 4% from Japan, 4% from Germany and 4% from Vietnam.  

During the first quarter of the last seven years the USA was the origin market for imports that declined the most, as in 2012 it represented 69% of the total value purchased and in 2018 that proportion fell to 48%. 

Variation of regional imports 
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018 the total value imported into Central America rose by 2%, growing from $93 million to $95 million. This increase complements the 9% increase registered for the months in question in 2016 and 2017.
