Preparations for Highway Expansion in Panama

The National Highway Company plans to build new access roads with toll collections in the area of ​​Costa del Este, in the districts of Lefevre Park and Juan Diaz.

Authorities at the National Highway Company explained that they are planning to implement the tolling scheme in order to cover the costs of the work and administration of the new access road. The construction will be completed in a period of 12 to 18 months.
 
Prensa.com reports that "...According to the entity that manages the North and South corridors, entrances and other exits to the city from Costa del Este will remain free to use. However, it was explained that anyone wishing to leave using the new road must pay a toll, which is now estimated at the sum of $1."

A New Toll Road in Guatemala

Plans are underway to build, in the municipality of Villa Canales, a 9 kilometer toll road with 6 lanes, which will connect at kilometer 23 with Carretera to El Salvador and with the Via Alterna del Sur.

According to the interactive information system "Construction Projects in Guatemala", complied by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, Tramo SB-3, S.A. submitted an Environmental Impact Study (EIA) called "Vía SB-3", to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in March 2017.

Tolls to be Charged at Costa Rica’s Borders

As part of the border posts improvement plan, the Government is proposing a toll, charging $25 per export declaration and $5 per person.

The charge would be implemented at the border crossings at Peñas Blancas, Sixaola, Paso Canoas and Las Tablillas (Los Chiles).

Proceeds will be used to pay back the $80 million loan granted by the Inter-American Development Bank to finance the construction, equipping and improving processes at these border posts and to create a fund to maintain them. Some 4% would be paid to the municipalities where the crossings are located.
