In Costa Rica, the supply and installation of photovoltaic equipment at 132 traffic lights of the centralized system is being tendered.

Tuesday, March 5, 2019

Costa Rica Government Purchase 2019LN-000007-0058700001:

"The solution should provide power to traffic light systems using photovoltaic solar energy and only use the public grid if solar radiation is not enough. In other words, the public grid will act as an auxiliary source.

The feeding solution must have a photovoltaic generator which captures the solar energy, must feed the system of traffic lights and at the same time, charge the accumulator. During the day, it must mainly use solar energy and during the night, the energy will come from the accumulator. Finally, when conditions require it, the system will take energy from the public grid. In the event of failure of the public electricity network and the solar panel system, the system should have a backup capacity of at least 12 hours by means of lithium batteries.

The feed solution will be installed on a pole, provided by the successful tenderer at least six meters high with underground channeling for traffic light control. The solar generator will be installed on the pole, according to the best possible setup and the rest of the equipment must be installed in their respective outdoor cabinet, which will also be mounted on the pole."

Deadline for receipt of tenders: March 25, 2019.
