Pharmaceutical Market Figures in Costa Rica

From January to March of this year, companies in Costa Rica imported $170 million worth of pharmaceutical products, 7% less than in the same period in 2017, and 30% came from the USA and Germany.

Variation of imports  
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018 the import value of pharmaceutical products in Costa Rica decreased from $182 million to $170 million. 

For the periods in question, the value imported from Spain grew by 61%, going from $14 million to $23 million, and from Chile it increased 28%, going from $22 million to $29 million.

Origin of imports 
From January to March 2018, 17% of the value imported from Costa Rica came from Germany, 13% from the US, 10% from Panama and 8% from Mexico. 

For the quarter in question in the last seven years, Germany is the market of origin of where imports have grown the most. In 2012 it represented 10% of the total import value, and this year the figure reached 17%.
