Panama to Sell More Sugar to Taiwan

The nations have signed a tariff agreement which will increase the export quota.

Representatives of the Taiwanese and Panamanian governments signed an annex to the Tariff Reduction Program, which sets quotas of 21.000 metric tons of refined sugar and 39.000 metric tons of raw sugar for duty free entry to Taiwan.

A statement by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry states "According to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Roberto Henriquez, who is part of The Administrative Commission of the FTA, the signing of this amendment is the result of mutual agreement between both nations to strengthen trade ties and promote Panamanian sugar exports to the Republic of China (Taiwan). "
