Panama - Israel FTA Negotiations Underway

In the second round of negotiations held in Panama institutional issues such as dispute resolution, intellectual property, trade facilitation and technical standards were discussed.

From a statement issued by the Israeli Embassy in Panama:

The negotiating teams of the Governments of Israel and the Republic of Panama, are meeting in Panama City from March 2 until today for a second round of negotiations on an FTA.

In the first round, in addition to approval of the Negotiating Framework, half of the subjects of the agreement were discussed: National Treatment and Market Access, Rules of Origin, Phytosanitary and Animal Health Measures, Trade Remedies, some institutional aspects, services and investment, leaving some tasks pending such as reactions to the proposed texts.

Panama - Israel FTA Ratified

October 2019

The National Assembly of Panama approved in third debate the Free Trade Agreement between both countries, signed in May 2018.

Some of the results that will be achieved with the entry into force of this agreement include immediate access to the Israeli market for agricultural products such as: frozen beef and hamburger, palm oil, cassava, rum and vinegar.

Panama - China FTA: Fourth Round of Negotiations

November 2018

From November 19th to 23rd, the fourth round of negotiations will take place in Panama City, where issues related to the protection of sensitive products of the Central American country will be addressed.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported that in the previous three rounds of negotiations, progress has been made on intellectual property, sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

Israel-Panama FTA Talks Completed

November 2015

The basis for the agreement have been established, with Panama having achieved immediate preferential access for various agricultural and fisheries products, and access through quotas for beef, pineapple, papaya and tropical fruits.

After four rounds of negotiations between teams from each government, a basic document was created setting out the conditions of entry of products and services to each market.

Third Round of Negotiations for Panama - Israel FTA

July 2015

Progress was made on issues of market access, services, customs administration and trade facilitation, intellectual property, investment, rules of origin, trade remedies and cooperation.

On the issue of rules of origin, the Deputy Minister of Trade Negotiations in Panama told EFE that "... we were able to review the 17 items that were pending and practically agreed on nine others which have been left for the next meeting."
