The Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported that in the previous three rounds of negotiations, progress has been made on intellectual property, sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

Regarding the upcoming negotiations, the Minister of Commerce and Industries, Augusto Arosemena, explained to Panamaamerica.com.pa that "... throughout the negotiations those products that are sensitive for Panama will be protected, as well as the protected professions."

Arosemena added that "... Chapters such as market access, rules of origin, investment and services have yet to be concluded. We feel like we're making progress in the first three rounds, but that doesn't mean we're going to speed up the negotiation."
