Panama: $ 100 Million for Airport Infrastructure

The Government will make the investment over the next three years by remodeling major airports.

Civil Aviation Authority has already called six bids to work on remodeling different airports. The largest contract to date was awarded to Meco for Enrique Jimenez Airport´s expansion in the province of Colon. reports, “In addition to bids in Colon, Meco also won the contract to extend the runway at the Marcos A. Gelabert Airport in Allbrook for $ 3.4 million. A taxiway at the Allbrook terminal was awarded to Constructora Urbana SA, for $ 2.9 million."

A Single Bid for Works on Panama Airport

The company Asociación Accidental RPS was the only one who presented a bid for the works at the Marcos A. Gelabert airport.

The offer submitted for the design and construction of new parking lots and the renovation of the access road to the airport was for $3.4 million.

The Panamanian aviation authority (AAC) has given the companies Meco and CUSA the order to begin work.

Meco, at a cost of $3.44 million, will be in charge of the runway improvements while the $2.99 million paid to Constructora Urbana S.A. (CUSA) will go toward the design and construction of a new taxiway.

Riva S.A. Leads Race to Build Malek Airport in Panama

The Argentinean builder submitted the lowest priced bid to build the expansion of Enrique Malek Airport.

It complied with all the requirements and submitted the lowest priced bid at $27.4 million. For this, it was recommended for the project by the reviewing committee.

This airport is located south from the city of David and north from Estero de Pedregal, and is the third largest of the country.
