Panama Wants to Attract More Spanish tourists

Out of all Europeans, the Spanish are among the most frequent travelers, and therefore, the authorities are intensifying efforts in the Iberian market.

The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) is stepping up its efforts to promote the country as an attractive tourist destination and persuade more Spanish people to travel there instead of going to Guatemala, Costa Rica and Cuba, Spain’s favorite destinations in Latin America.

The general deputy administrator of the ATP, Ernesto Orillac, met last week with about 50 tour operators from the company Viva Tours - one of the largest companies in Spain (having 900 agencies and 9,000 points of sale in the Iberian Peninsula). Beach destinations, mountain lodges, adventure and shopping vacations as well as hotel infrastructure in the modern city of Panama were the attractions highlighted by the official.

"The Spanish market is very important for Panama, because of all the citizens of Europe, the Spanish are among the biggest travelers and spend a lot on tourism, so penetrating this is very important for the development of Panamanian tourism", reported Capital.com.pa.

"Spanish tour operators can offer their customers four different tours of 9 days and 8 nights in Panama, which are marketed in the new catalog Iberia America. Also sold is another tour for 16 days and 14 nights starting in the modern city of Panama and ending in Costa Rica", indicates the website.
