Panama Tenders $ 28 Million in Bus Stops

The Ministry of Public Works concessions the design, construction and supply of 500 Metro Bus stops.

The Ministry of Public Works Public will tender the right to supply, install, maintain, preserve, develop, manage, use, usufruct, repair, replace, improve, build and operate 500 bus stops with the following characteristics:

-478 Standard Stops
-20 Pay Zones and / or Transfer Points
-01 Balboa Ave Midway Station (Hexagonal)
-01 Integration Terminal at Centro Comercial La Dona

The infrastructure meets the needs of the Mass Mobilization Passenger System of the Metropolitan Area of Panama METRO BUS.

The date for submission of proposals is May 12, 2011.

EUPAN to Build Metro Bus Stops

The Urban Equipment company of Panama, SA (EUPAN) will carry out the study, design, construction, supply and installation of "pay zones" for users of the Metro Bus transportation system

A press release from the Presidency of the Republic of Panama reads:

The Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu reported that the Transit and Land Transport Authority (ATTT) has contracted, by a special procedure, the Urban Equipment company of Panama, SA (EUPAN) to handle the study, design, construction, supply and installation of "pay zones" for users of the new Metro Bus transport system in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito.

Colombians to Build Bus Terminal in Guatemala

The Colombian company, Conconcreto, has announced an investment of $25 million to build the project.

The new bus terminal will have capacity to serve two million passengers a month, and will be built by Conconcreto and the company Servicios Para Centrales, originally from Guatemala, which will provide the remaining 50% of the investment ($25 million).

Panama: Tender For Metro Bus Stops Cancelled

In a surprise move, the Ministry of Public Works yesterday canceled the tender for the concession to design, construct and provide supplies for the metro bus transit system stops.

After making the necessary consultations the government has discovered the existence of an existing concession contract which partially covers the subject of the tender by the Ministry (MOP).

The Ministry of Works will award construction and management of Metrobus stops for $200 million.

Currently, Equipamientos Urbanos de Panamá (EUPAN) holds a contract with the Municipality of Panama City expiring in 2023.

With regards to the current contract the Minister of the Presidency, Demetrio Papadimitriu, explained that it is null and void because it was awarded by the Mayor´s office and current legislation stipulates that the power to award such contracts lies with the Ministry of Public Works (MOP ), reported
