Panama Launches $9 Million Tender for Cold Chain Market
The Cold Chain Department invited bids for building and equipping a Public Market in David, Chiriqui.

Tender rules are posted at the Panamacompra.gob.pa. web portal and the target date for submission of proposals is March 2nd, 2011.
This facility in David, which will have a market area of 20 thousand people and will benefit about 200 retailers in the zone, is part of the innovative project the government is pushing of building public markets.
The study, design and technical support of this new, modern public market in David, which is to be built in the grounds of the former workshops of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), was made by Mercasa and awarded by the Cold Chain Department through a public ceremony held in recent months.
According to official estimates, the period of construction for the facility will be between 12 and 15 months. The market will feature ample parking and public spaces where to acquire fruits, vegetables and legumes, fresh meat and fish.
Seven consortia have submitted bids for the construction and equipping of a market in Panama City, a project worth over $100 million.
The company's suppliers and their proposals are: Facilities and Services SACODEPO ($118, 900,000), SA Sacyr ($126,447,000), MCM Global ($124,999,000), Assignia-Cocige ($126,495,000), SA-Cleop Elecnor SA ($109,968,000), Omega Engineering ($126,500,000) and the Consortium Arranz kinase-Riva SA ($120,240,000).
Companies participating in the approval meeting have requested for the deadline for submission of tenders to be extended.
In addition to the request to extend the date by 45 days, they also asked for the performance bond to be lowered from 50% to 25%.
"Among the companies that attended the meeting were: Sacyr, MCM Global, Heliopol, Copanac, Edificar Panamá, Constructora Meco, IBT Group, Semi, Cleop, Ocean Cross, FCC and Riva. On June 13, proposals will be presented and the bids for contracts opened. This tender is the second of eight markets. The David Tender is pending adjudication. " said an artilce in Prensa.com
A single offer was received for construction and equipping of a public market in David, Chiriqui.
The only bid was submitted by CCE Infrastructure, with a total of $ 13.46 million. The reference amount was $ 9 million.
