Panama: Tender of Faculty of Medicine to be Held in April

The University of Panama has announced that it will be launching a tender in April for the construction of classrooms, laboratories and equipment, which will be financed with $70 million.

Authorities at the Ministry of Health in Panama received on Monday the document for the development of the specifications for the tender for the design and construction of a new Faculty of Medicine at the University of Panama.

Enrique Mendoza, dean of the faculty, told prensa.com that the public act will be convened for next April and that the work should be operational in late 2018. As reported last November , the building will be erected on an area of 5.5 hectares in Chivo Chivo, Ancon, in the district of Panama City.

The plan is to construct two halls, a cafeteria, a virtual library, staff room, classrooms for physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, preventive medicine, social and family studies. In addition the building will have biochemical laboratories, nutrition, pharmacology, and clinical laboratories, a student center, research and graduate department and about 521 parking spaces. "

Construction Companies Uninterested in Building Rural Schools

Three tenders worth $70 million to build 68 schools in Ngäbe Bugle and Veraguas have been declared void and it has been announced that they will be tendered again before October.

Reference prices not consistent with market prices and the location of the schools appear to be the reasons why no construction companies expressed interest in the tender adapt 68 schools located in the districts of Mironó and Besiko in Ngäbe Bugle and in Cañazas, Veraguas.

The government has announced it will be putting out to tender the redesign and construction of two schools in San Miguelito, Panama Province.

The President, Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez in the company of the Minister of Education, Marcela Paredes de Vásquez launched the program "My First School", which is part of the educational projects that the government plans to implement in order to improve the conditions of various schools in the country.

The Ministry of Education in Panama is putting out to tender the design and construction of six new classrooms for the Santos Petita School.
