Panama: Tender for Water Leak Controls for $28 million

The Institute of Aqueducts will launch a tender for the provision of a system to reduce water leakage in the Panamanian capital.

Abdiel Cano, director of the National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewage Systems announced that a tender will be put out for a system to reduce water leakage in the distribution network in the capital city.

Together with the National Council for Sustainable Development $28 million will be earmarked "for this project which includes the installation of 38 control points with regulators and pressure gauges and water flow, which will operate 24 hours a day."

"... These control points will lower the water pressure when it detects that it is high in an area, and in this way prevent pipes from breaking."

The Ministry of the Presidency of Panama is putting out to tender the design and construction of Wastewater Collection in la Pintada in the province of Cocle.

The National Council for Sustainable Development is the entity that will make the purchase.

The date for the approval meeting is 17th May 2012.
