Panama: Tender for Radio Frequencies

As part of the plan to reorganize the modulation frequency band, segments will be modified and frequencies will be freed up so that they can be granted in concession.

Thursday, November 19, 2015

The Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ASEP) announced that the process starts now and will end on January 9, 2016, and from that date it will be able to tender the frequencies that have become available.

"... The initiative will enable the reorganization of the 86 frequencies currently operating nationwide in the FM band, which will allow for the release of a total of 45 frequencies, which will be handed out later through concessions. "

Prensa.com reports that "...After technical analysis it was found that there are some concessions which have frequencies with separations of up to 600 kilohertz (kHz), which is in inadequate management of the radio spectrum in Panama. The idea is for any gaps, if they exist, between one frequency and another, to be of 200 kHz, because at the moment there are dials separated by 400, 600 and 200.
