Panama: Tender for Public Market for $18 million

The Ministry of the Presidency has put out to tender the construction and equipment of a public market in Colon City, Colon Province.

The scope of work to be performed by the contractor is, but not limited to:

1. Building and equipment for the work embodied in the designs of the final plans presented by MARKET CENTRAL SUPPLY, SA (MERCASA) for the Public Market in the City of Colon, with all the requirements indicated in the studies, design, final plans and specifications which are given in the terms of reference.

2. Contractor will perform all required actions (financing, management, labor, supply of materials, facilities, etc.). and work required (direct, indirect, provisional, temporary and otherwise) to optimally carry out the construction and equipment of the City Market in Colon.

Building maintenance, once the work has been built and received by the employer, will not be the responsibility of the contractor or builder.

The deadline for submission of bids is 12 September 2011.

The Ministry of the Presidency by using the tender system hopes to hire one firm to carry out the both the construction work and equip the market after reviewing the results of the final designs and plans undertaken by the Central Markets Supply Company, Inc. (MERCASA).

The government is going to tender the construction and fitting out of a "Public Market" in the town of David.

The work to be carried out by the selected contractor includes:

- Building and equipping the work specified in the final plans presented by the Panama's Central Storage Market company (Mercasa in Spanish) for the "Public Market" in the town of David, in compliance with all the requirements detailed in the studies, design, plans and final technical specifications found in the bid terms of reference.

Panama Awards Marketplaces Design Contract

Spanish company Mercsa will study, design and provide technical assistance for the construction for 8 public marketplaces.

An important component of the Cold Chain Project, these marketplaces will be located in David, Colón, Santiago, Penonomé, Chitré, Las Tablas, Panamá and Chorrera.
