Panama Seeking Trade With West Africa

The Panamanian government intends to set up an embassy in Ghana for commercial use as an entryway into the market in the West African subregion.

"... Panama has expressed its interest to Ghana in establishing a resident diplomatic mission in the capital, Accra, so that this nation can become its gateway to markets in the West subregion. "

The director of foreign policy at the Panamanian Foreign Ministry, Analuisa Bustamante, told Panamaamerica.com.pa that "... 'through the Panama Embassy in Ghana links will be promoted in sectors such as tourism, construction, agri-food, energy, consumer goods, water, consulting, health services, transport and training, as well as new synergies with the West Africa region which has a market of 300 million people. '"

The aim is for Ghana to serve as a gateway to the continent, mainly the western area, where countries such as Guinea, Nigeria and Senegal are located.

Panamaamerica.com.pa adds that "...The Republic of Ghana is the second most populated country in West Africa, it has about 25.9 million inhabitants and has a real growth of 5.4%. "
