Panama: Road Projects in Colon Go To Tender this Year

The Ministry of Works will launch a tender this year for the design and construction of an expansion, rehabilitation and connection of the Colon Corridor.

According to a publication by, the tender is for design and construction of the expansion, rehabilitation and connection of the Colon Corridor with Avenida Aminta Melendez and the Panamá-Colón Highway, the main route to the city of Colon, in the Colon province.

Project Scope:
-Studies, designs, plans and specifications.
-Construction, expansion and rehabilitation of roads.
-Construction of bridges.
-Lighting and urbanism.
-Relocation of public utilities.
-Preparation of technical files for compensation purposes on properties which may be affected, if applicable.
-Environmental issues.

Costa Rica: Progress on Road Project to Limón

The final designs studies for the construction of 107 kilometers of Route 32 are supposed to be ready by the end of September.

From a statement issued by the Conavi:

The National Road Council (CONAVI) will receive, at the end of September, the final designs for the extension and renovation of 107 kilometers of route 32, in the section between the crossing of Rio Frio and the center of Limón.

Panama: Tender for Road Widening for $850 million

The proposed expansion and rehabilitation of 185 kilometers of the Inter-American highway from Veraguas to Chiriqui is being divided into five parts to be tendered separately.

The information was released by the chief of Public Works, Jaime Ford. This amount is $100 million more than the $750 million suggested by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

The President and the Minister of MOPT, Francisco Jimenez, announced an international tender for the widening of the Inter-American Highway at the section between Cañas and Liberia (50.6km) and a tender to build the new road from Bajos de Chilamate Bajos de Chilamate en Sarapiquí y Vuelta de Kooper en San Carlos (27 km)in Sarapiquí to Vuelta de Kooper in San Carlos (27 km), which will be vital in connecting the Northern area of the country with the Caribbean.
