Panama: New Tender for Children's Hospital

The Ministry of Health announced that on June 30 it will publish the specifications of the tender for the design and construction of the hospital, with a price tag of $8 million.

PThe new tender will be published in PanamaCompra, where interested companies must use as a reference the "medico-funciona" plan prepared by professional and administrative staff of the Children's Hospital, and must provide 400 parking spaces, areas for kiosks and pedestrian areas.

In regards to the previous bidding process, Francisco Javier Terrientes, Health Minister outlined to Prensa.com that "... construction of the 'Children's Hospital has been awarded twice, but never endorsed and the order to proceed never happened. Therefore, unfortunately, as the company never had orders to proceed, we have no responsibility with them '.... "

Invited to participate in the new tender "... all interested companies, without exception, to participate in this new edition, because, he said, and will ensure transparency."

For the third time the bids submitted by companies interested in building the new hospital will be reviewed.

The Directorate of Public Contracts annulled the second report by the tender evaluation committee, after participating companies denounced more irregularities.

"Now the committee will evaluate proposals from five companies who qualified in the process, they are: Consorcio Hospital San José Panamá, Acciona Infraestructura, Agrupación Nuevo Hospital del Niño, Consorcio FCC-HN and Consorcio Nuevo Hospital del Niño."

The clarification meeting for the tender for the construction of the Panama Children's Hospital was attended by 24 companies.

Prensa.com reports that "Among the companies interested in the contract are Constructora Norberto Odebrecht, FCC Construcciones, Constructora Meco, Ingenieros Civiles y Asociados (ICA), who have won contracts worth millions in this administration" ... and "the firm Mallol & Mallol Arquitectos".
