Panama Invites Tenders for $63 Million Highway Development

The contract is for the design and construction of roads and bridges in the semi-autonomous indigenous region of Ngobe Bugle in western Panama.

The project is mainly comprised of the design and construction of five roads in Ngobe Bugle, Veraguas province, which includes the widening and resurfacing of the infrastructure.

Also part of the project is the design and building of vehicle bridges, flood and drainage channels as well as signage, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and corresponding mitigation measures.

Proposals should be received by 29 October, 2010.

The Ministry of Public Works has put out to tender the design and construction of roads and vehicular bridges in western Panama.

The works include reconstruction of about 50 kilometers, divided into 6 different roads. Also included is the design and construction of 8 vehicular bridges, between 15 and 100 meters long.

The Ministry of Public Works gave the order to proceed to Transcaribe Trading, company who won the contract for $ 152.6 million.

The highway will suffer a comprehensive maintenance and will be widened to six lanes. The project also includes widening current bridges, design and construction as well as an interchange at the underpass connecting Residencial Vista Alegre and Residencial El Tecal.

Contract Awarded for New Stretch of Northern Longitudinal Highway

September 2010

Stretch "3B" of El Salvador's major new road will be built by the consortium formed by Contein Cortázar and Gutiérrez-La Herrera.

The $18.4 million contract comprises the design and construction of 22.7 km of surface transport infrastructure of which 4.2 km is brand new while 18.5 km represents the widening and upgrading of an existing highway.
