A statement from the National Institute of Statistics and Census reads:
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July 2012 registered an increase of 0.3 percent compared to the previous month, both for the National Urban area and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito, and other urban areas. Compared with July 2011, there was an increase of 6.0 percent in National Urban area and the Other Urban Areas, while in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito it was 5.9 percent. Similarly, so far this year, the National Urban CPI reflected a cumulative change of 3.4 percent.
In July compared to June 2012, the National Urban CPI divisions that grew in their prices were: Housing, water, electricity and gas 0.9 percent, following the price increase in electricity; Food and Drink 0.5 percent, the result of a rise in prices of fresh meat cuts, Furniture, household equipment and routine house maintenance and teaching, both 0.4 percent, resulting from higher prices of certain items for home care and photocopies, respectively, likewise, Clothing and Footwear, Health, and Miscellaneous goods and services, each with 0.1 percent, due to increased prices on clothing accessories, injectable services and cigarettes, in that order. However, the Transport division showed a decline of 0.5 percent, the decline in gasoline prices and the division of Leisure, recreation and cultural services remained unchanged.

In July the consumer price index declined by 0.8% compared to the previous month, with a year over year inflation of 2.2% up to July.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July compared to June 2014, recorded a low of 0.8 percent in both the National Urban Area and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 0.9 percent in the Other Urban Areas.
In June, the consumer price index rose by 0.5% compared to the previous month, with the divisions of food and beverages, health, clothing and footwear, and transport having the largest growth.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October compared to September showed a monthly rise of 0.1 percent for both the National Urban as well as the districts of Panama and San Miguelito, while for the remaining urban areas there was a variation of 0.3 percent. Compared with October 2011, there was an increase of 5.3 percent in National Urban, 5.1 percent in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 5.7 percent in other urban areas. So far this year, the National Urban CPI recorded a cumulative variation of 4.1 percent.
The consumer price index (CPI) for August grew by 6.1% compared to the same month last year.

The variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August compared to July 2012 showed an increase of 0.5 percent in the National Urban area, for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 0.6 percent, and in other urban areas 0.3 percent.
