Panama: Inflation at End of 2014 is 2.6%

In December, the consumer price index declined by 0.4% compared to November, placing the annual inflation rate at the close of 2014 at 2.6%

From a statement issued by the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Panama:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in December compared with November 2014, recorded a low of 0.4% for both the National Urban Area and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito, while for the Other Urban Areas it was 0.5%.

The group that showed the greatest decrease, of 2.9%, was Transportation, due to the drop in fuel prices; followed by the groups Recreation and Culture, 0.5%, due to the decrease in the price of televisions, and Clothing and Footwear, 0.4%, due to lower price of jeans for women. The groups showing increases were Communications with 3.3%; Restaurants and Hotels, 0.3% Miscellaneous Goods and Services, and Furniture, Home furnishings and Household maintenance, both with 0.1%. Remaining unchanged were the categories of Food and Non-alcoholic beverages and Education.

When comparing the annual indices for 2014 with 2013, the following changes are to be seen: National Urban Areas 2.6%; for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito 2.7% and 2.6% for Other Urban Areas.

During February in the country the CPI reported -0.3% year-on-year variation, which is partly explained by the behavior of the prices of the transport category.

The groups that showed decreases in the National Urban CPI for February compared to January 2020 were: Transportation with 1.3%, Food and non-alcoholic beverages with 0.8%, Recreation and culture with 0.4%, Communications with 0.3%, Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, clothing and footwear, and Health all with 0.1%, reported the General Comptroller of the Republic.

Up to December last year, the year-on-year variation of the Consumer Price Index was just 1.2%, a behavior that is explained by the fall in fuel prices.

The results of the general CPI, by groups of goods and services in December 2018, show reductions in Transport (-1.80%) and Housing (-1.45%), influenced by the reduction in prices of oil derivatives, informed the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.

Guatemala: Annual Inflation to March 2.43%

April 2015

In March, the consumer price index recorded a rise of 0.17%, reducing annual inflation by just 0.01% compared to the February figure.

From a report issued by the National Statistical Institute of Guatemala (INE):

The most important results up to March 2015 were as follows: a monthly rate of 0.21%, yoy 2.43%, and accumulated rate of 0.17%.

Year on Year Inflation Falls in Panama

September 2014

In August the consumer price index recorded an increase of 0.1% compared to the previous month, putting the inter-annual inflation rate at 2.1% up to August.

From a statement issued by the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Panama (INEC):

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August compared with July 2014, registered an increase of 0.1 percent in the National Urban Area and 0.2 percent for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito; while for the Other Urban Areas, it showed a decrease of 0.1 percent.
