Panama: Import of Paints and Varnishes up to March 2018

From January to March of this year, imports of paints and varnishes into the country totaled $12 million, and the value purchased from companies in Costa Rica decreased by 7% compared to the same period in 2017.

Variation of imports 
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018 the value of paints and varnishes imported into Panama fell by just 1%, going from $12.5 million to $12.4 million. 

For the periods in question, the value purchased from companies in Costa Rica also registered a fall, in this case of 7%, going down from $6.1 million to $5.6 million.

Origin of imports 
From January to March 2018, 46% of the value imported by Panamanian companies came from Costa Rica, 11% from El Salvador, 10% from the US, 8% from Mexico and 3% from Puerto Rico.  

The USA it is the country of origin of imports from Panama that decreased the most in the first quarter of the last seven years, as in 2012 it represented 18% of the total value purchased, and in 2018 that figure dropped to 10%.
