Although the electronic signature scheme has already been launched it has not yet been announced how they will be used or if they will be adopted by the country's public institutions.

"The signature allows you to check to see if information exchanged online has been modified and also ensures that the acts that are signed with it can not be repudiated after being signed", according to Hernando Carrasquilla, director of the Public Registry.

Prensa.com reports: "The entry will be inserted onto a card, similar to a credit card. A reader, also available to the user, can verify the card information, checking the identity of the signer and validating the transaction they make. "
