Panama: Fuel Consumption Up 4%

In 2016 total consumption increased by 4% compared to 2015, mainly explained by an 18% increase in consumption of 95 octane gasoline and 12% in bunker C.

Total consumption of gasoline, diesel, bunker C, liquefied petroleum gas and other fuels rose by 4% in 2016 compared to the previous year. In the case of gasoline, the highest increase was recorded in 95 octane, which increased by 18.5%, while consumption of regular gasoline or 91 octane fell by 3.6%.

Consumption of bunker C registered the second largest increase of 12.3% compared to 2015. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas went up by 5.6%, mainly driven by a 6.3% increase in the consumption of propane gas, followed by butane gas, which went up 5.6%.

In the case of diesel consumption, in 2016 it fell by 3.1% compared to 2015.

In Panama, 1.128 million gallons of fuel were sold during 2019, and the demand for gasoline grew by 3% in relation to what was reported in 2018.

The General Comptroller of the Republic reported that during 2019 gasoline consumption in the country, which includes 91 and 95 octane gasoline, reached 339 million gallons, 3% more than the 330 million gallons registered in 2018.

Last year, Panama sold 1.107 million gallons of gasoline, 4% less than the 1.151 million gallons reported in 2017.

The latest data published by the General Comptroller of the Republic detail that during 2018 the consumption of gasoline in the country, which includes 91 and 95 octanes, totaled 330 million gallons, 0.9% more than in the same period last year.

Fuel Consumption in Panama Still Declining

January 2019

From January to November last year, fuel sales totaled 1.010 million gallons, 5% less than the 1.058 million gallons reported in the first eleven months of the previous year.

The most recent data published by the General Comptroller of the Republic of Panama details that during the first eleven months of 2018 the consumption of gasoline in the country, which includes the 91 and 95 octane, totaled 300 million gallons, 0.8% more than in the same period last year.
