Panama: Economic Situation in November 2015

Up to November, economic activity grew by 4.09% yoy, driven by the electricity and water sectors, transport, storage and communications, construction, and financial intermediation.

From a statement issued by the General Comptroller of the Republic of Panama:

The Monthly Economic Activity Index (IMAE) in the Republic for January-November 2015, measured in terms of the original series in 1996 prices, grew by 4.09% compared to the same period in 2014.

The categories of economic activity which showed a favorable performance for the aforementioned period were: electricity and water, transport, storage and communications, construction, mining and quarrying, hotels and restaurants, financial intermediation and fishing. Other sectors had a positive impact, but at a slower pace, with the exception of trade and manufacturing industries which recorded a decrease.

The Monthly Economic Activity Index (IMAE by its initials in Spanich) in the Republic for January-February 2016, measured in terms of the original series at 1996 prices, grew by 4.21 percent compared to the same period in 2015.

In November, the monthly index of economic activity (IMAE) grew by 4.8% compared to November 2014. Meanwhile, the annual average change was 3.9%, and accumulated growth in the January - November period was 3.8%.

Between January and September the economy grew by 4% compared to the same period in 2014, driven by the sectors of transport, storage and communications, and electricity and water.

The Monthly Economic Activity Index (IMAE) in the Republic for January-September 2015, measured in terms of the original series in 1996 prices, grew by 4.03 percent compared to the same period in 2014.

The Monthly Index of Economic Activity in the first half of the year increased by 4% compared to the same period in 2014.

From a statement issued by the General Comptroller of the Republic:

The Monthly Economic Activity Index (IMAE) in the Republic for January-July 2015, measured in terms of the original series in 1996 prices, grew by 4.02 percent compared to the same period in 2014.
