Panama Curundú Project is 25% Complete

Works at the $94 million Curundú project are at 25%.

The Minister of Housing and Land, Carlos Duboy, said that by mid-month 160 homes are scheduled to be completed, which will add to the existing 160.

"Also there is progress in cleaning up the Curundú river, especially in the area where classrooms are built to train staff working at the project and other work for the road structure and drainage systems,” reports the article in La Estrella .

Two weeks ago, construction company Norberto Odebrecht received the order to commence this infrastructure project.

It is currently working with government authorities in the project’s first stage, which comprises developing a social plan.

The evaluation committee awarded the best score to Odebrecht, before the other two pre-qualified companies: Meco S.A. and Constructora Urbana S.A. (Cusa).

Three Companies Bid $95 Million for Curundú Project

Meco, Oderbrecht and Cusa are the three companies still in contention for developing the urban infrastructure project.

All three of them proposed costs around $95 million, from Cusa's bid at $94.933.650 to Meco's at $95.397.750.

According to Prensa.com, "Proyecto Curundú" comprises transforming some 160.000 square meters in the locality of the same name.

Odebrecth, URS Holdings and FCC Construcción are among the companies bidding for the project.

A coordination meeting (homologación) will be held on December 10th, while bids will be opened on December 21st.

"The future project is called 'Proyecto Curundú', and comprises transforming 160.000 square meters in the vecinity of Juan Demóstenes Arosmena Stadium and the Farmer's Market.
