The government has announced that the ban on importing firearms will stay in place until August 6, 2015.

From a resolution of the Ministry of Public Security:
It is resolved:
To extend the suspension of the import of weapons allowed in the country by companies duly authorized to apply for licenses from the Ministry for importing such goods. State Security and the security services of state institutions are excepted.
This Resolution is legally binding for a period of one (1) calendar month.
IT IS ADVISED that appeals in opposition to this resolution Resolved may appeal be considered up to five (5) working days from notification.
The import and sale of toxic chemicals and reagents included in Schedules 1, 2 and 3 of the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1998 are banned.
From Decree 672 published in La Gaceta:
Article 5. A natural or legal person who imports or exports, must present to the
National authority, a declaration ninety (90) days prior to the entry or exit
Regulators banned imports of animal products due to the nuclear crisis affecting Japan.
Ligia Quirós Gutiérrez, director of the National Animal Health Service (SENASA), said the move is precautionary and that only applies to food which has been produced after March 11 when the earthquake and a subsequent tsunami hit the Japanese island.
The country banned imports until the new law to possess and carry weapons is approved.
The project will be discussed at the National Assembly during the next period.
The Minister of Public Security, José Raúl Mulino, told Panama America: "It is a decision by the State, for state security, and is, for now, an indefinite extension.
