Panama: Auction for Rice Purchase

On April 23rd an auction will be held for participation in the purchase of 214,000 hundredweight of rice, corresponding to the regular 2015 contingent.

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

This purchase will be able to enter the country from April 24 until June 30 and will only incur an import tariff of 3%, as opposed to the 40% normally paid for rice purchases made abroad.

The Committee on Commodity Exchanges (Conabolpro) informed Prensa.com that "... Entrepreneurs interested in buying must submit a registration form to the Secretariat of the Commission for Duty Free Quota Licensing, located in Altos de Curundú, building 574. "

"... The purchase will be added to the production of the agricultural year 2014-2015, which recorded a deficit of 17,073 hectares, compared to the 67,073 hectares cultivated in the previous term. Last year the transaction closed in the National Commodity Exchange at 5.4 million dollars. "
