Panama: Advice for Producers on FTAs

The Minister for the Economy will provide expert counsel to different producing sectors on the benefits of the different free trade agreements (FTAs) signed.

The Panamanian Chamber of Commerce and the Economy Ministry are holding informal meetings and sessions with producers in various provinces to initiate the communication.

According to the Minister for Trade and Industry, Roberto Henríquez, commented that, "in order to make the most of these commercial agreements, producers will need to know what commitments are required, as well as understand the legal procedures and mechanisms they contain".

Negotiations with countries like Peru, Colombia and the eventual ratification of the treaty with the United States are worrying producers, who believe they are not prepared to compete under the new conditions.
