Panama: Advertising for $ 40.5 Million

For 2011 the government has budgeted $ 40.5 million in advertising expenses.

Of the budgeted amount, $ 9.3 million higher than current year 2010, $ 22.1 million is earmarked for advertising of central government, public enterprises and decentralized institutions and $ 18.4 million to promote the country abroad.

"The millionaire amount could increase even more. This, considering that this year the government budgeted $ 31.2 million for government advertising, $ 18.7 for the central government and $ 12.5 million for the ATP- but as of August it had used $ 42.5 million. It accomplished that through special credits and funds transfers," says Prensa.com.

Awards: Tourist Promotion for $4.5 million

The consortium of advertising agencies Team Tourism 16-17 Team won the contract to design and implement the internal tourism promotion campaign with a proposal of $4.5 million.

From 2012 onwards, the ATP will handle the international advertising campaign, buying space directly in respective countries. For the last 4 years an advertising agency, winner of a public tender in 2007, has managed the campaigns.

Advertising Expenses for Tourism in Panama

Of the nearly $ 40 million budgeted by the Tourism Authority of Panama for advertising for the period 2008-2011 just $ 5.5 million remain in the coffers.

Prensa.com reports: "In late 2009, the ATP took away the campaign from Publi4, which had already spent $ 26 million of the $ 39.5 million, blamed it with inflating production costs of the campaign 'Panama stays in you' but the company defended itself stating it had worked transparently and under the quality levels requested." Consequently, ATP management awarded the campaign to advertising firm BB & M.
