Panama Adopts Digital Standards

They are DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting) for digital terrestrial television (DTT) and IBOC (In Band On Channel) for digital radio standards.

Executive Decree No. 96, from May 12, 2009, added that the current analogue TV or radio operator is entitled to operate a digital channel or frequency for 10 years.

Additionally: "Section 39 of law 24 of 1999, provides that the National Authority of Public Services shall open radio and television channels and frequencies for concession, recognizing existing concessionaires who meet their legal obligations."

Costa Rica: Digital Television Experimental Phase Starts

Honduras to Use ISDB-T Digital TV

The National Telecommunications Commission has made a change to a previous resolution which provided for the adoption of the ATSC standard.

It is projected that by 2018 Honduran TV will be digital which gives a period of five years for operators to use and migrate to the ISDB-T standard.

Tender for Telecommunications Supplies for $3 million

The National Public Services Authority of Panama is putting out to tender the supply of 50,000 digital boxes for digital TV signals.

This tender is being performed as part of the transition to digital terrestrial television (DTT).

With the beginning of the transition of digital terrestrial television (DTT), on September 14, 2011, under the standard of Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T), Panama marks a technological milestone of great importance for the transformation of television.

Panama: To Implement Digital TV Starting September

In September authorities will start the program to implementation Digital Terrestrial Television using Europe's DVB-T format.

The National Authority of Public Services (ASEP) indicated that the implementation will include technical guidelines and regulations for radio and digital TV.
