ASEP prepares for biannual call for AM and FM radio frequencies

A total of 102 frequencies nationwide will be available to those interested in operating and exploiting radio services as part of the biennial call for Radio and Television Broadcasting Type A (commercial) and services of Radio and Television Broadcasting Type B (non-commercial) launched by the National Authority of Public Services.

Of the total number of available frequencies by the ASEP, it was reported that 45 will be in the Frequency Modulation (FM) band and 57 in the Amplitude Modulation (AM) band.

The number of frequencies to be tendered will be 68 in the AM band and 69 in the FM band, and the convocation will take place between November 21 and 25.

Eight bidders submitted offers in the tender conducted by the Public Services Authority to grant concessions for open radio frequency bands, AM and FM.

Of all the proposals only two did not meet the requirements, resulting in their rejection. Corporación Medcom Panamá S.A. bid $35,143 for the frequency 90.9 MHz (FM)-Bocas del Toro, and $18,116 for the frequency 100.7 MHz (FM)-Darien.
