Comments on the July 2013 National Urban Consumer Price Index:

The variation in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July compared to June 2013, showed an increase of 0.3 percent, both in the National Urban territory, and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and the category Other Urban areas was 0.2 percent. Compared to July 2012, there was an increase of 4.1 percent in National Urban, 4.2 percent in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 4.0 percent in the Other Urban. So far this year, the National Urban CPI has had a cumulative variation of 2.9 percent.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in March compared to February 2013 showed an increase of 0.4%, both in the National Urban category, and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito, while in other urban areas, it was 0.3 %.

Inter Annual Inflation in Panama reaches 5.3%

November 2012

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October 2012 compared to October 2011 showed an increase of 5.1% in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 5.7 percent in other urban areas.

A statement from the National Institute of Statistics and Census reads:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October compared to September showed a monthly rise of 0.1 percent for both the National Urban as well as the districts of Panama and San Miguelito, while for the remaining urban areas there was a variation of 0.3 percent. Compared with October 2011, there was an increase of 5.3 percent in National Urban, 5.1 percent in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 5.7 percent in other urban areas. So far this year, the National Urban CPI recorded a cumulative variation of 4.1 percent.

Panama: CPI up to August Up 6.1%

September 2012

The consumer price index (CPI) for August grew by 6.1% compared to the same month last year.

A statement by the Controller General of the Republic of Panama reads:

The variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August compared to July 2012 showed an increase of 0.5 percent in the National Urban area, for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 0.6 percent, and in other urban areas 0.3 percent.
