Panama: $40 million for Traffic Management

The contract was awarded to the Spanish construction company FCC, as an extension of the work carried out on the Brazil highway.

The Ministry of Public Works in Panama awarded a $40 million subcontract to the company of Spanish origin, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas S.A. (FCC), for the implementation of a "traffic management plan for the city's road realignment."

"The transit improvements package was included in the original contract signed on July 6, 2011 between the then Minister of Public Works (MOP), Federico Suarez, and the company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas SA (FCC), in order to carry out the "study, design, construction and financing of works for the Brazil highway section II", at a cost of $180 million, " reported Prensa.com.

The plan states that FCC must install, within the works of the road network works in Panama, 70 vehicular surveillance cameras, 35 information panels, over 30 traffic lights, 100 speed sensors, and make improvements in to the control tower where vehicular traffic is monitored.
