From an article published by Grupo Cubitá:

On October 12, 2013 a new chapter will be written in the history of the Azuero Peninsula with the official opening of the acclaimed Cubitá Boutique Resort & Spa, the first project of its kind in the Republic of Panama. An original creation by the Panamanian financier Ivan Eskildsen and his wife Maria Amelia Pezzotti, Cubitá Boutique Resort & Spa is a unique combination of world-class services with the colonial charm of the Azuero Peninsula, long regarded as the cradle of Panamanian culture and folklore.

Since work began in 2012, construction of Cubitá Boutique Resort & Spa has advanced at an unprecedented rate, requiring the dedicated effort of 200 workers and 20 engineers in order to meet the deadlines. The opening scheduled for October 12 will be marked by lively festivities, including a tour of the facility and a presentation of the "Cubitá Experience" which aims to rescue and promote the rich traditions and history of the Azuero region while providing experiences in line with the highest international standards of service. The guest list for this historic event includes numerous Panamanian personalities both from the government and private entities, as well as distinguished international figures.
