Panama: 1.7 million tourist projected for 2008

During the first six months of 2008, 891,600 tourists entered the country.

"If this trend continues, we could have 1.7 million visitors at the close of the year," the Administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Ruben Blades, reported. If this forecast is true, official statistics would have a new record and the rapid growth of the sector would continue.

Guatemala: Slight Increase in Tourism

Tourism Increases 8.8% in Nicaragua

September 2009

626.170 tourists entered the country between January and August 2009.

According to data from the Nicaraguan Tourism Insitute, there were 50.533 more visitors than the same period of 2008, an increase of 8.8%.

Data from the Central Bank of Nicaragua shows that visitors spent $205.3 million in this time frame, 22% more than in 2008, when they spent $167.5 million.

4% growth projected for Guatemalan tourism

January 2009

The Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (Inguat) projects that for 2009 they will have a 3% to 4% growth.

According to "Roberto Robles, Inguat director, said that the figures that have been projected were made taking into consideration the global economic situation which is affecting the main countries which sends tourists to our country, especially the United States.
