Panama: $135 million for Hospital Equipment

The Social Security Department has announced it has $135 million for the procurement of medical equipment and construction works to be tendered in the short term.

From a statement issued by the National Assembly of Panama:

In order to make improvements, contracts and purchase medical equipment for hospitals, clinics, ULAPS, and health centers across the country, the Budget Committee approved nine transfers of items for a total amount of 135.3 million to the Social Security Department (CSS).

Estivenson Giron, director of this health institution, explained that this sum will be invested in the acquisition of medical equipment for the various facilities of the SSC in all provinces, also scheduled is meeting some outstanding payments for construction and others that will be tendered soon.

The Minister of Health, Violeta Menjivar, announced major health projects to be run by the government this year, among which is the inauguration of the National Hospital of La Union, whose total investment will be $16 million.
