Panama: $12 Million for Tourism Promotion

The government has announced that in the second half of 2015 it will provide $12 million through the purchase of international advertising and direct activities with travel agencies.

The investment will be over $100 million in the period which covers 2016-2019. The tender with the international agency of global marketing and public relations is in its final stage, and the event is expected to be held in August.

From a statement issue by the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP):

ATP is making great strides in promoting tourism in Panama, which includes $12 million from June to December; while from 2016 to 2019, $100 million will be used for this purpose, said the Director of Marketing of the institution, Gina Valderrama on Tuesday .

The first 12 million dollars will be directed to primary target markets such as the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Tocumen; without neglecting Europe.

Panama: Tender for International Advertising

The Tourism Authority has announced that it will focus its efforts on international tourism promotion, when preparing the tender specifications for the development of an advertising campaign.

Panama Cancels International Advertising Contract

The Tourism Authority of Panama has terminated the contract for $1.3 million signed with Conde Marketing to promote the country during the transmission of boxing matches in Argentina.  

The contract, which was renewed in 2014, included the promotion of Panama as a tourist destination during the transmission of 36 boxing matches on the television channel TyCSports.

Costa Rica Wants to Attract European Tourists

On 13 May, Costa Rican businessmen will meet at a business forum in which they will study strategies to position Costa Rica as a destination for the European market.

The European region represents one of the main markets for attracting tourists to Costa Rica, which, according to figures from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), received 284,996 visitors from Europe, which means about 12% of total reported income in 2012.

Tourism Development in Atitlan Enhanced

Lake Atitlan receives over 200 thousand tourists a year, who each spend $118 a day and have an average stay of 1.5 days, generating revenues of $32 million a year.

A joint project by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), in collaboration with the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (Inguat), is promoting the economic development of the Lake Atitlan area through tourism.
