Palm Oil: More Business with Mexico

During the first eleven months of 2019, exports of palm oil and its fractions from Central America to Mexican companies totaled $192 million, 25% more than the same period in 2018.

Exports by Country
From January to November 2019 the main exporter of palm oil from Central America to Mexico was Guatemala, with $80 million, followed by Costa Rica with $58 million, Nicaragua with $27 million, Panama with $14 million, and Honduras with $12 million.

Variation in Regional Exports
Between the first eleven months of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value exported from the region to Mexico grew 25%, from $153 million to $192 million.

For the periods in question the volume exported also increased, in this case by 18%, from 298,000 tons to 354,000 tons.

Price of Exports
Between December 2018 and November 2019, the average price per kilo of Central American exports rose 63%, from $0.36 to $0.59.

Palm Oil: $45 million in Exports

August 2018

In the first quarter of the year Honduras exported $45 million worth of palm oil and its derivatives, and 85% went to the Netherlands and El Salvador.

Palm Oil: Record Export Figures

May 2018

Explained by sales to the Netherlands, last year Central America exported $1.344 billion worth of palm oil and its fractions, 74% more than in 2016.
