Intraregional Trade on the Rise
Between the third quarter of 2020 and 2021, trade in paints and varnishes between Central American countries registered a 67% increase, going from $74 million to $124 million.

Costa Rica, Main Supplier
During the third quarter of 2021 the main exporter of paints and varnishes in Central America continued to be Costa Rica with $50 million, followed by El Salvador with $36 million, Guatemala with $30 million, Panama with $4 million, Nicaragua with $3 million and Honduras with $300 thousand.

When analyzing the destination of sales, the figures show that 24.99% of total exports were purchased by Honduran companies, 20.24% by Guatemalan companies, 17.32% by Nicaraguan companies, 17.18% by Panamanian companies, 9.04% by Salvadoran companies and 4.01% by Costa Rican companies.

Honduras is the Largest Intra-Regional Importer
For the third quarter of 2021 Honduras was the main buyer of paints and varnishes from the other Central American countries, importing $31 million, followed by Guatemala, Panama and Nicaragua with $25 million, El Salvador with $11.2 million and Costa Rica with $5 million.
