Intraregional Trade Begins 2019 Upwards
Between January and March 2018 and the same period in 2019, the trade in paints and varnishes between Central American countries recorded a 3% increase, from $29.5 million to $30.5 million.

The year-on-year increase recorded in transactions in the first quarter of 2018 is contrary to the behavior reported in the same period of 2018, when a 6% decrease was reported.

Costa Rica, Main Supplier
In the first quarter of 2019 the main exporter of paints and varnishes in Central America continued to be Costa Rica with $14 million, followed by Guatemala and El Salvador, with $8 million each, Nicaragua with $0.7 million, and Honduras with $0.2 million. Panama had no significant sales.

Main Intraregional Importer
From January to March of last year Honduras was the main buyer of paints and varnishes to other Central American countries, importing $8 million of which $3.4 million was purchased from Costa Rica, $2.2 million from Guatemala and $2.2 million from El Salvador.
