PROHA to Build 'Model School' in Panama

The $13 million construction of a new education center has been awarded to the PROHA consortium.

Panama's Ministry for Eductation (Meduca) awarded the construction works to PROHA, a consortium made up of the developers Proversac Internacional and HA Engineering Inc.

The school is to be built in the beach community of Playa Leona, will feature state-of-the-art technology and serve students from pre-school age through to twelfth grade. This center will act as a 'model' for future projects.

Education Minister, Lucy Molinar, told Prensa.com that, "in the next five days the order will be given for work to proceed with construction expected to be completed in 2012".

From 2015 to date, $393 million worth of contracts have been awarded in Panama for various renovations and constructions of public schools.

Data from the CentralAmericaData's information system on "Public Procurement in Central America"  shows that from 2015 to date the Ministry of Education in Panama launched 1,063 tenders, of which 450 have been awarded and another 613 are pending adjudication or were closed without the contract having been awarded.

Panama: Offers for $15 million School Construction

Six construction companies submitted bids in the tender for the construction of a school in the Pacora district of Panama, with a price tag of $15.7 million.

The companies that submitted bids are Consultores Profesionales e Ingeniería, Constructora Urbana, S.A., Proyectos y Construcciones Canaima, Constructora Ripard, Administración y Supervisión de Obras Civiles, S.A.

Government to build a school in the Playa Leona community, about 30 km south-west of Panama City in district of La Chorrera.

The center will feature state-of-the-art technology and be a template for the construction of additional schools. Construction is expected to take 420 days.
