Another Extension in Tender of Port in Amador

For a second time the Panama Maritime Authority has postponed the date of opening of bids in the tender to build and operate a cruise port in Amador.

Tuesday, March 7, 2017

The new date for submitting proposals in the tender for the construction and operation of a cruise port in Amador is March 17. This is the second time the Panama Maritime Authority has postponed the date.

Prensa.com reports that "...The AMP decided to change the date for submission of proposals at the request of interested companies, who number about 30. Among the companies that have shown interest in the project are Sacyr, Incostas, CCA Panama and China State Construction."

Preliminary calculations by the AMP establish the amount of investment needed to build the cruise terminal, which will have a dock that will allow two cruise ships to be docked simultaneously, at $70 million. In the past five years an idea to build the project in the area of Balboa Yacht Club, also in Amador, was dismissed because the area did not have the necessary draft to receive cruise ships.
