Opportunities in Construction Projects - August 2015

A mining development in Guatemala, an industrial plant in Costa Rica and residential works in Panama are some of the projects for which environmental impact studies were submitted in August 2015.

The report "Construction Projects in Central America - August 2015", prepared by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData.COM, provides a detailed list of major construction projects for which environmental impact studies (EIS) were submitted in August to various government institutions in each country.

In Guatemala one of the projects for which an EIA was submitted involves open stone mining to create gravel using a crusher machine. The project, to be developed in the province of Chiquimula and which is estimated at $32,765,400, was submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) by the company Constructora Piedrinsa Nuevo Milenio S.A.

In Costa Rica an EIA to build a 12 thousand square meter industrial project in La Reforma prison was sent to the Environmental Technical Secretariat (SETENA) was sent n. The document states that the project involves construction of a "productive unit, which will contain a workshop center so that the prison population can take part in productive and educational activities". The cost of the project is $18,517,695, and it will be funded by Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo.

In Panama, one of the projects for which an EIA was submitted is a residential development, estimated at $26 million, and comprised of 1025 detached, semi-detached and social interest houses with public use areas, playgrounds, a police station, a community center, health center and a treatment plant, among other things. The EIA for the project, called "Residencial Quintas de Nara" was submitted to the National Environmental Authority by the company Viviendas de Calidad S.A.
